WHEN IN VENICE

After Paris... Venice! The Haute Couture fashion week took place in Paris from the 1st of July to the 4th, but Dolce&Gabbana were not there. They chose Venice to show their third Alta Moda collection and organised a particular and unforgettable weekend for their exclusive guests.

Everything was thought to impress and Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana knows how to stupefy the audience. The fashion show was an extraordinary event. It took place in Palazzo Barbaro, Friday the 5th. The location, the details, the garments, everything was in an 18th century mood. The guests arrived in gondolas and made their entrance through an all decorated street to take their seats in the old rooms painted in Venetian style.
The collection was inspired by Venice, the Commedia dell’Arte and its characteristic masks. Lace, embroideried fabrics, and modern textiles dressed up the models that looked as if they stepped out from a painting on the walls.

And then the party: the “Ballo in Maschera” where nothing was left to chance. Every guest arrived in gondola at Palazzo Pisani Moretta - the location chosen for the Ball - and everyone had a personalized mask fitting the look. The dance started with a waltz and went on until 2AM drinking Bellini cocktail and living a dream.

HAUTE COUTURE #4

The enchanting world of Couture never ends. Every time is different and every fashion show is unique. From the waste theatre of Chanel stands up a new woman who is the symbol of hope for a new world; the rigidity of the statues on Giambattista Valli's catwalk are in big contrast with the light femininity of his dresses: a poetical, romantic, fairy tale; the flapper girls have a modern life with Giorgio Armani Privé who showed the best of his eccentric view of fashion. Every show had a typical atmosphere and every designer decided to create a dream for all women - this is the real purpose of the haute couture. And this is spectacular!

HAUTE COUTURE #3

Good Morning Paris! I'm already inside the Grand Palais waiting for the Chanel show! But I'm still dreaming about the Giambattista Valli's runway - pure poetry: so feminine, ethereal, elegantly chic. It was a dream.
